UK GDPR Data Holding Reasons

Lawful bases for processing personal data:

Contract – this is the lawful basis for processing most of your data at Just About Blood Sugar. The contract with you as an individual undergoing coaching services is that Just About Blood Sugar can offer personalised diabetes support:

• Completion of initial analysis of diabetes management.
• Carrying out personalised consultations regarding diabetes management which necessitates data processing such as diagnosis date, current management struggles, previous management techniques, HbA1c, medications taken, form of diabetes, etc.
• Personal details may be used to contact you outside of your coaching sessions, including names, email and phone numbers (optionally provided).

Consent – this is the lawful basis for processing healthcare team details and subsequent contact with yourself or your healthcare teams, depending on consent type given. This is not necessary to complete our contract with you, but serves as an additional form of data processing within our services offered to you:

• Correspondence with healthcare team, upon consent, by the person(s) undergoing coaching.

Special Category Data - reasons for processing:

As Just About Blood Sugar asks for your HbA1c and other healthcare information, this means the data you provide sits in a 'special category' under UK GDPR. Legally, Just About Blood Sugar is therefore required to state our condition for processing this data:

• Informed analysis of diabetes management for greater specificity during coaching sessions.
• Explicit consent is the condition met under Article 9(2)(a) of the UK GDPR Act, taken during booking of initial consultation and after purchase of the coaching and WhatsApp services we offer.
  • The reason for processing special category data is the same across all of our legal bases for processing.

CONSENT

Here at Just About Blood Sugar, we are passionate about optional consent. However, for us to carry out our services effectively, we require certain information be provided to us before booking or attending an appointment:

• HbA1c (optional), Date of diagnosis, personal details including name, email, phone number (optional), date of birth, medications, type of diabetes, additional information, current struggles with diabetes, previous techniques tried, goals from coaching, etc.

Where certain data is not required for us to complete our services and contract with you, such as contacting your diabetes team (an optional addition to your coaching with us), we request explicit consent and inform you that this data is not necessary:

• Diabetes team contact details. When explicit consent is given severally to the other data processing requirements of our contract with you, we will contact your healthcare team using these details provided. By giving explicit consent, you authorise the sharing of your current health details and coaching appointment notes – which are always shared with you before being sent to your team, to allow for an opt-out. You may withdraw consent without detriment at any time.

Data Security

We take appropriate measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. All information is stored securely and only accessible to authorised personnel. Your data is stored securely in our systems and will be deleted upon request.

Your Rights Under UK GDPR

• You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you.
• You can request correction of inaccurate data.
• You can request deletion of your data where appropriate.
• You can object to or restrict certain types of processing.
• You have the right to withdraw consent at any time.
